MorningStar's version of PPP has advanced options and settings that some PPP clients cannot handle. Windows '95 is one such client.
Several PPP configuration options may need to be changed for the Windows '95 client to successfully connect; otherwise some of these advanced options may pose link problems.
Suggested changes to default settings found in:
/usr/lib/mstppp/Accounts
are as follows:
mru 1500You may also need to turn off the advanced compression types that MorningStar offers. Set the following:
asyncmap a0000
nolqm
nostacTo check which parameters may still need fine-tuning, set the option:
nopred1
debug 5Finally, double-check that the client (Windows95) and the server (Morningstar PPP) are using the same netmask value.
Then restart the pppd process and retest the connection. In the file /usr/adm/pppd.log, you will see the PPP negotiation between client and server, and you will see any "Nak"'d parameters that may need adjustment.
